Not Everything Is That Deep—But Taking Action Is
How Setting Deadlines and Letting Go of Perfection Can Change Everything
Maybe Everything Isn’t as Deep as You Think
That post. That job. That test you spent all night worrying about.
Maybe—just maybe—it’s just a moment in time that will pass, leaving nothing significant in its wake.
But then again, there’s always that small chance it could be life-changing.
Who really knows, right?
I see both sides. I believe everything should be approached with intentionality, but at the same time, don’t let that stop you from acting on your ideas, visions, or plans.
Because what’s the point of thinking everything is life-changing if you never act on anything? How can you expect your life to change if you don’t make any changes at all?
I say this from experience—because I used to struggle with this a lot (and still do sometimes).
I love getting things done perfectly, putting every ounce of effort I can into them. It’s always been all or nothing for me—either 100% or not at all. That’s just how I’ve been since I was a kid.
But there’s one simple solution that has truly helped me:
Set Deadlines and Time Limits for Everything.
It might sound simple, stupid, or even uncomfortable—but I promise, this small shift changes everything. It makes your life flow more efficiently and pushes you to operate at a higher level.
Let’s say you have a goal to post one YouTube video a week, but you’re struggling to post at all. You overthink, over-plan, and over-prepare because you want your next video to be the breakthrough.
Instead of spending three months perfecting a single video, you give yourself a two-week deadline from the moment you start pre-production. Now, every minute counts. Every moment has value.
The deadline arrives. Maybe the video isn’t 100% perfect—but it’s still amazing nonetheless. You post it. The video does well. You do it again. And over time, you realize you’re working faster, better, and more efficiently.
And it’s all because of deadlines.
Deadlines keep us accountable and prevent us from wasting time on things that won’t yield an equal return on our effort.
Now, you might be thinking:
“Man, I wish I had something to help me set deadlines, track my habits, and actually stay on top of my goals.”
Well, look no further—because my 12 Week Pursuit Notion Template is exactly what you need.

🍿Spotlight: Danny Gevirtz
Danny is an incredible filmmaker I’ve been watching since 2020. He’s done some amazing things—like creating and funding his first feature film without any prior film school experience.
He’s part of that group of filmmakers who learned everything from good ol’ YouTube.
I could say so much more, but with Danny, just know this—there’s always an emotional takeaway in his work, much like what I aim for in my own. It’s what sets him apart.
Check out this quick yet beautiful video of his called Little Joys.
